"Interrupted" is a photography project inspired by my four years of education at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, at their Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook.
I feel that the four years of University experienced by myself and my peers between 2019 and 2023 has been unique. During our education we have experienced a number of interruptions including epidemics and strikes which, although necessary, has influenced our educations to a degree where many of us do not know what it is like to have a full and normal University experience.
For "Interrupted" I wished to show in an accessible way what these last four years have been like through a first hand experience. Through this project I want to show the mistrust, the melancholy, the uncertainty, and the loneliness many of us students have experience during these unusual times. Through the use of archived and contemporary photographs edited in early 2023 I use my own version of documentary photography to tell my own story, one which I hope other students can relate to and one that I hope gives an idea to outsiders of what life was like these last few years for a student.
